Day 24 · 30 Prompts in 30 Days

Connect Claudeto n8n andautomate bydescribing it.

You can connect Claude directly to n8n in about a minute. After that, instead of dragging nodes and wiring steps by hand, you tell Claude what you want the workflow to do in plain English, and it builds it for you. This is the start of your own operating system.

Stop building nodes. Start describing outcomes.

n8n is a powerful automation tool, but building a workflow by hand means dragging nodes, wiring them together, and mapping fields between each step. For most people that is where the good idea dies.

Connecting Claude to n8n changes the job. You describe what you want to happen in plain English, and Claude assembles the workflow for you. You review it, then switch it on.

01You talk to

Claude, the operator

The part you speak to in plain English. You tell it the outcome you want, and it writes and edits the automation on your behalf. You never touch a node yourself.

02It runs on

n8n, the engine

The automation platform that actually executes the workflow: watching for a trigger, moving data between your tools, and running each step on schedule once it is live.

03Joined by

The connector, the doorway

The link you set up once, from inside Claude's settings. After that, Claude can build in n8n directly, so you brief it in chat instead of stepping into the n8n editor.

You stop being the person who wires the automation. You become the person who describes it.

Who this is for

Anyone who runs a business on repetitive admin and has looked at automation tools without ever finishing a build. The method is universal. The worked examples below run on property, because that is what I use Claude for, but every one transfers to any business.

Step 01 · The one-time setup

Connect Claude to n8n in about a minute.

You do this once. After it is linked, every future chat can build in n8n without you setting anything up again.

The setup
  1. Open Claude and go to Settings, bottom left.
  2. Open the Connectors tab and click Customise (sometimes shown as Add connectors or Browse, depending on your plan).
  3. Click the plus button, then Browse Connectors, search n8n, and click Connect.
  4. Claude opens a browser window to authorise the link. Sign in to your n8n account and approve access. The window closes and the connector shows as linked.
Heads up

You need an n8n account before you start: the free cloud plan or a self-hosted instance both work. Claude can draft and edit workflows through the connector, but review each one and switch it on yourself before it touches live data. Nothing runs until you activate it. Menu labels shift between plans and updates, so if a name does not match exactly, look for the nearest equivalent under Connectors.

Step 02 · Now describe the workflow

Four automations you can build just by asking.

With the connector on, you brief Claude in a normal chat and it builds the workflow in n8n. Below are four to start with, one for each of the jobs most businesses lose hours to: chasing money, updating records, reporting, and following up.

Edit the brackets to match your own tools before you send. Each one is written so Claude shows you the workflow and waits for your go-ahead before anything runs.

1
Automation 01 · Chase overdue payments

Chase late payers without chasing.

In property this is your rent arrears chaser. Point it at your tenancy ledger and it nudges late tenants before you have to. For any business, swap in your invoicing tool.

Edit the brackets, then send
Build me an n8n workflow that chases overdue payments automatically.

Trigger: check [my invoicing tool, e.g. Xero, Stripe, or a Google Sheet] once a day for anything past its due date.

For each overdue item:
- Draft a polite reminder to the payer, referencing the reference number, the amount, and how many days it is overdue.
- Send it from [my email], and log that a reminder went out so the same item is not chased twice in one day.
- If it is more than [14] days overdue, flag it to me in [Slack or email] instead of sending another automated nudge.

Before you activate it, show me the workflow and walk me through what each step does. Do not switch it on until I confirm.
2
Automation 02 · Keep your CRM current

Stop updating the CRM by hand.

For property investors this captures every buyer or tenant enquiry, from a portal, your inbox, or a landing page, into one place with no manual entry.

Edit the brackets, then send
Build me an n8n workflow that keeps my CRM up to date without manual entry.

Trigger: when a new [lead or enquiry] arrives from [my form, inbox, or portal].

Then:
- Create or update the contact in [my CRM, e.g. HubSpot] with their name, contact details, and where they came from.
- Tag them by [interest or stage], and set a follow-up task for [2] days out.
- If the contact already exists, add the new enquiry to their timeline instead of creating a duplicate.

Show me the workflow first and let me test it on one sample enquiry before it goes live.
3
Automation 03 · Reports that write themselves

A weekly report, built while you sleep.

In property this is your portfolio pulse: rent collected, arrears, occupancy, and upcoming handovers, landing in your inbox every Monday morning.

Edit the brackets, then send
Build me an n8n workflow that sends me a [weekly] summary report.

Trigger: every [Monday at 8am].

Then:
- Pull the latest figures from [my sources, e.g. a Google Sheet, my accounting tool, my CRM].
- Summarise the numbers that matter to me: [list the 3 to 5 metrics you track].
- Compare them to the previous [week] and call out anything that moved a lot.
- Email me the summary in plain English, with the raw table attached.

Keep the summary short. Lead with what changed and what needs my attention.
4
Automation 04 · Never drop a follow-up

Follow-ups that fire on their own.

For investors this keeps every viewing, offer, and negotiation moving, instead of a deal quietly dying in your inbox because nobody chased the next step.

Edit the brackets, then send
Build me an n8n workflow that triggers follow-ups so nothing slips.

Trigger: when [a deal, enquiry, or task] reaches [a stage, e.g. viewing booked, offer sent, contract out].

Then:
- Wait [3] days, then check whether the next step has happened.
- If it has not, draft a follow-up message to [the contact] and remind me to send it, or send it automatically if I have approved that step.
- Log every follow-up so I can see the full history on each [deal or contact].

Walk me through the logic before activating, and let me set the wait times myself.
How to use these

Paste any prompt into a Claude chat with the n8n connector switched on. Claude drafts the workflow, explains it, and waits. You review it and activate it yourself. Start with one, get it running, then come back for the next. You do not need to know a single n8n node to do this.

Talk it through

Want help getting your first workflow live?

Message me directly if you want to talk through which automation to build first for the work you actually do. If property is part of your plan, I can also walk you through the opportunities I am tracking right now.

What this adds up to

The start of your own operating system.

One workflow saves you an afternoon. A handful of them, all talking to your real tools, quietly runs the admin that used to eat your week.

The whole method, in two moves

Connect Claude to n8n once. Then describe the workflow you want and let Claude build it. You brief the outcome, the machine handles the wiring.

Chasing payments, updating records, weekly reporting, and follow-ups are just the start. Every repetitive task you can describe in a sentence is a workflow you can hand off, without ever learning to build one by hand.

It works for any business. I run mine on a property portfolio, where the admin is relentless and the hours you claw back go straight into finding the next deal.
