Day 28 · 30 Prompts in 30 Days

Build an investordeck from onebrief.

Claude now builds native, editable slides inside PowerPoint. Open your branded template, describe the deck in plain English, and it turns your portfolio numbers into real charts and diagrams, on your brand. The reporting that keeps your investors confident stops eating your weekend.

Stop building the deck by hand. Start briefing it.

If you raise money from partners, or send quarterly updates to co-investors, the deck is the part that eats your weekend. The numbers are already in your models. Rebuilding them into slides is the slow bit.

Claude for PowerPoint sits in a side panel inside the app. You describe the deck in plain English and it builds native, editable slides that follow your own template, with real charts instead of flat images.

01You brief

Claude, the deck-builder

The side panel you talk to inside PowerPoint. You describe the deck you want in plain English, and it builds and edits the slides for you.

02It follows

Your branded template, the look

Claude reads the slide master, layouts, fonts and colour scheme already in your deck, and uses them. Open your own template first and the output comes out on-brand.

03It builds

Native editable slides, the deck

Bullets become diagrams, process flows and native PowerPoint charts. Nothing is a flat picture, so you can edit every element after, like any other slide.

The point is not a prettier deck. It is reporting that no longer costs you a full day every quarter.

Who this is for

Anyone who reports to partners, co-investors or a lender, in property or any business. The briefs below are written for property portfolio updates and raises, because that is what I use them for, but every one transfers to any deck you build from your own numbers.

Step 01 · The one-time setup

Put Claude inside PowerPoint and open your template.

You install it once. After that, Claude opens in a side panel in any deck you have open. Start from your branded template so every slide it builds already matches your fonts and colours.

The setup
  1. In PowerPoint, open the add-ins store from Home, then Add-ins on Windows, or Tools, then Add-ins on Mac. Search Claude by Anthropic and click Add.
  2. Open the panel from the add-ins button and sign in with your Claude account. It is on every paid plan, which starts at twenty dollars a month on Pro.
  3. Open your own branded template first, the one with your fonts, colours and slide master. Claude reads all of that and builds on it, so the deck comes out on-brand.
  4. Describe the deck you want in the panel. Claude builds native, editable slides you can then refine like any other PowerPoint.
Heads up

You need Microsoft PowerPoint with a Microsoft 365 account, on desktop or the web, and a paid Claude plan, from twenty dollars a month on Pro. Claude builds and edits real slides in the file, so work on a copy of anything important and check what it produces before you send it. Menu labels shift between PowerPoint versions, so if a name does not match exactly, look for the nearest equivalent under Home or Tools.

Step 02 · Give it your numbers

Point Claude at your numbers before you brief it.

This add-in has no saved project to work from. It builds from what is in front of it: the deck you have open, the tools you connect, and a standing instructions note.

Set that up once and your brief stops having to spell out every figure. Claude pulls the real numbers from the files you point it at, instead of you retyping them into the prompt.

The context setup
  1. Connect the folder where your numbers live. In the panel, open the connectors icon and connect the tool you use, like Google Drive. Point it at the folder holding your cash flow models, holdings sheet and portfolio tracker, so Claude can pull real figures rather than guess them.
  2. Set your standing profile in the Instructions field. Use the sidebar Instructions box for the things that never change: your portfolio structure, your partners, your brand tone, and how you like a deck laid out. It applies to every deck you build.
  3. For a one-off, skip the setup. Just keep the source model open in front of Claude, or paste the figures straight into the brief. Quicker once, but you type the numbers in every time.
How it knows what to write

Claude only sees the deck you have open, the tools you have connected, and your Instructions note. It does not invent your figures. Give it a real source, a connected file or numbers in the brief, and always check every number it places on a slide before you send it. Unlike Claude on the web, this add-in cannot read a saved Project, so the connected folder is how you keep your context in one place.

Step 03 · Now brief the deck

The briefs I use to build a partner update.

Open your template, open the Claude panel, and paste one of these. Edit the brackets to point at your connected folder or the numbers you want used, so the slides carry your properties and your figures.

Claude pulls the data from the source you point it at and builds the slides on your template. Then you refine one slide at a time, without regenerating the whole deck.

1
Brief 01 · Quarterly JV update

The partner update in six slides.

The recurring one. This turns your portfolio numbers into a clean quarterly review for co-investors, one slide per part, with charts instead of bullet walls.

Edit the brackets, then send
Build a 6 slide quarterly portfolio review for my JV partners, using this template's fonts, colours and layout.

Pull the figures from [my portfolio tracker in the connected Drive folder]. One slide each:
- current holdings: [my properties from the tracker]
- performance against plan: actual vs forecast on [rent, occupancy, value]
- cash position: [cash in hand, reserves, upcoming calls]
- acquisition pipeline: [deals under review]
- key risks: the [two or three] I am watching, and what I am doing about them
- next quarter's plan

Turn the numbers into proper charts and diagrams, not bullet lists. Keep every element editable, and flag any slide where the source is missing a figure.
2
Brief 02 · Co-investment raise

The deck for raising the next round.

When you are bringing new money into a deal or a fund, this drafts a full raise deck on your brand, factual rather than salesy, with the numbers as native charts.

Edit the brackets, then send
Build a [10] slide deck to raise [amount] from co-investors for [deal or fund name], on this template.

Cover: the opportunity, the market, the specific asset or assets, the numbers ([target return, hold period, minimum ticket]), the deal structure, my track record, the key risks and how each is managed, and how to invest.

Use native charts for the returns and the use of funds. Keep the tone factual, not salesy. Flag every slide where I still need to add a real number or a source.
3
Brief 03 · Refine one slide

Fix a single slide without redoing the deck.

The everyday edit. Once the deck exists, you rework one slide at a time. This changes just that slide and leaves the rest exactly as it is.

Edit the brackets, then send
On the [performance] slide only, [make the summary a table and add a bar chart of rental income by property].

Change just that slide. Do not regenerate the rest of the deck, and keep everything on the template's styling.
How to use these

Open your template, open the Claude panel, and paste one brief. Point it at your connected folder or the numbers you want used, and check every figure on the slides before you send anything. Claude formats and lays out what you give it, it does not invent your figures. Build the deck with Brief 01 or 02, then reach for Brief 03 to polish one slide at a time.

What this adds up to

Investor-ready reporting, without the lost weekend.

The deck is what keeps partners confident and keeps capital coming. When it takes an afternoon instead of a full day, you report more consistently and raise more easily.

The whole method, in one move

Open your template, open the panel, and brief the deck. Claude builds native, editable slides on your brand, with real charts.

Describe the update once, let Claude lay it out on your template, then refine slide by slide. The quarterly report that used to eat a weekend is done in an afternoon.

It works for any deck. I use it for JV updates and co-investment raises, where consistent, credible reporting is exactly what keeps the capital coming.
